Three runners today at Cartmel – yes Cartmel!
We are represented at two meetings on Bank Holiday Monday, Giveaway Glance going to Windsor, plus a triple attack on Cartmel, new territory for the stable.
Giveaway Glance finished an encouraging third on her comeback at Windsor last month – a career-best performance according to the handicapper – so, hopefully, she will again be competitive.
Alan is delighted that, while some parts of the country have had a deluge of rain over the week-end – more than two inches fell in the Birmingham area yesterday – Cartmel has escaped the wet stuff. All our three runners need good ground.
Cartmel is a unique racecourse and obviously none of ours have been there before, but Crushed opened his account over hurdles at Plumpton a fortnight ago so should cope with the track in the opening novice, and the ground is definitely going to be in his favour.
The same applies to The Tourard Man, who has topweight in the three-mile plus handicap hurdle, and Miss Crick, who relishes these sort of underfoot conditions and did win a hurdle race at Newton Abbot so should not be inconvenienced by the track when she flies the flag for us in the two mile and five handicap chase. She is 8lb lower over fences than she is over hurdles.
