All the recent rain has scuppered plenty of Alan’s plans, with the majority of the horses wanting decent ground, but Alsa Mix has proved herself a mudlark in the past, and underfoot conditions ought to suit her well when she makes her eagerly awaited debut over fences against just three rivals in the Listed Mares Novice Chase at Bangor on Wednesday.

Alan said”We’ve been runner-up in this race with Presenting Lisa and Dusky Legend, so it would be nice if Alsa Mix could go one better here.

“The two miles might be on the sharp side, but, hopefully, the testing ground will offset that disadvantage, and she is a good mare who did well over hurdles.

“However, she had a hard race when winning a Grade 2 at Sandown last season and that might have taken the edge off her as she never built on that promise.

“But she has had a good summer holiday, which she didn’t have last year, and has schooled well, so we are looking forward to getting her started over fences.”
