It’s been another good week – and we’ve still got Tronada to come tonight
Barbury celebrations continue with Beringer running a blinder on his eagerly-awaited return at Pontefract on Thursday and Dromquinna giving us our first two-year-old winner of the season when making it third time lucky at Beverley yesterday.
Beringer was meeting Dark Vision 5lb worse in the Listed race than he would have been in a handicap, so to run the Godolphin horse to a neck was some achievement. He could be an exciting proposition in the second half of the season.
Dromquinna got a great run up the inside to win the maiden at Beverley, and Alan has now enjoyed a winner on all but six of Britain’s racecourses, this being number 54. He still needs to be successful at Pontefract, Redcar, Musselburgh, Hamilton, Kelso and Perth to complete the full house, but it is some feat to be so close considering Alan has not been training seriously on the Flat that long.
We have just the one runner today, Tronada up at Doncaster this evening. She has improved for stepping up to a mile and a half, twice winning over that trip at Lingfield and Chepstow, so fingers crossed she can complete the hat-trick for the Barbury Boys.
On Monday we have three runners, including Chinese Whispers who runs for the same syndicate as Tronada when lining up at Windsor. He was a 20-1 winner at Wolverhampton last October, so we know that he is better than he has shown in two recent runs.
On the Berkshire course, we also have Her Indoors, who showed promise at Lingfield on her debut. She then completely blew the start at Salisbury, so granted a level break this time we will be looking for better from the filly, while the Monday trio is completed by Party Potential, who makes his jumping debut in the juvenile hurdle at Market Rasen.
