Aweedram goes for compensation at Yarmouth

Aweedram, withdrawn before the start of the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot last week, tries for what would be small compensation when he shoulders topweight in the mile handicap at Yarmouth on Friday.

Confusion followed by anger reigned at Barbury, with Alan very annoyed that Aweedram, who unshipped Andrea Atzeni leaving the paddock, was pulled out by the stewards even though a vet had never examined him.

Aweedram seemed perfectly fine and Atzeni was as mystified as anyone, and it was an unsatisfactory experience for both Alan and Max McNeill and his family.

However, Aweedram, who was soon caught, has shown no ill-effects from last Thursday, so Alan is happy to go on a retrieving mission at Yarmouth, where he has booked Adam Kirby to ride. He is topweight and has only four rivals.
