Beringer chases Royal Hunt Cup glory
Punters look for outsiders in the Royal Hunt Cup – no favourite has won for 10 years – and there will be plenty worse 20-1 chances at Ascot this week than our own Beringer in Wednesday’s cavalry charge up the straight mile.
Beringer is drawn two, and, though in recent years the high numbers have come out best, both Portage and Belgian Bill won from that far side, so here’s hoping that Andrea Atzeni can do the business.
Alan said:”Beringer ran a blinder in the Lincoln, in which he was unlucky not to finish third, so the straight mile at Ascot should suit him.
“He has since won well at Newmarket and run well in a big handicap at York, and we hope that first time cheekpieces might eke out a bit more improvement.”
