Better ground increases Midnights’ Gift’s chances of a Family Fortunes celebration at Donny
Let us hope we are celebrating a game of Family Fortunes at Doncaster on Friday, when Midnights’ Gift attempts to emulate her half-sister Giving Glances by winning the Listed Sky Bet Fillies Juvenile Hurdle.
Blacko looked a pretty useful juvenile when landing short odds at Warwick on Wednesday, having sidestepped a clash with the smart Goshen at Warwick, and Midnights’ Gift also boasts form which suggests that she, too, is above average.
Alan said:”Midnights’ Gift could be another Fred Winter prospect, and she ran a super race against her elders when runner-up to the potentially top-class Marie’s Rock in the mares Listed hurdle at Taunton. Furthermore, the forecast of drying ground can only enhance her chances as all her family have been best on good going.”
Another who will benefit from an improved surface is Label des Obeaux, who Alan pulled out of Haydock last Saturday when the ground became very testing.
Alan said:”We have re-routed Label des Obeaux to Huntingdon on Friday for the Pertemps qualifier. He has been off for more than a year, having had a tendon strain, and he’ll obviously come on plenty for this first run back.”
Also in action at Huntingdon is Kozier in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle, and Alan added:”He spoiled his chance at Ascot last time by racing too freely, but he had previously run really well when second at Exeter on what was his first run for more than two years. A reproduction of that form would be give him a chance here.”
