What better way to kick-start June

June is one of Alan’s favourite months – holiday break in Greece plus his annual trip to Royal Ascot – and the month could hardly have started in better fashion.

Reflecting on how Green Etoile made a winning debut at Hexham yesterday and Potterman won first time over fences at Worcester, Alan said:”What a great day. Green Etoile will have learned plenty from that experience.

“He only had four runs on the Flat and because of the dry spell we have hardly been able to school on grass, so this was very much a learning curve for him. He’ll go for another juvenile hurdle in Aintree in a couple of weeks time.

“Similarly, I was delighted with Potterman, who produced an assured round of jumping and came away for a 10 lengths success.

“He is a horse who will always want good ground – even good to soft is no good for him – so we will use the summer to further his education and then give him a break before he returns in the spring.”
