We bid farewell to Aweedram
Horses come and go at Barbury, like any other yard, but when Aweedram left on Monday morning with a one-way ticket to Newmarket Sales, there were plenty of lads and lasses who were sorry to see him go.
Aweedram, who won twice and was placed five times in the two and a half seasons he was with us, was sold for 37,000gns, the successful bidder being trainer Kevin Frost.
He never ran beyond 10 furlongs, but William Buick, who got on so well, was adamant that a mile was his best trip, and, while it would have been nice to think that he might have made a juvenile hurdler for us, on pedigree and the way he ran suggested that he would not have got the trip. However, we wish him well with his new connections.
