Chicago Doll looks to end August in style

August 30

August is traditionally one of the quieter months on-track at Barbury, but the progressive Trueshan kept the strike-rate ticking over nicely at Ffos Las yesterday and, hopefully, either Tour de Paris (Wolverhmapton) or Port Winston (Sandown) can maintain the upward curve today.

We have just the one Saturday runner this week, Chicago Doll in the mile and a half handicap back at Dunstall Park, and, having opened her score at Leicester, this improving filly produced what the official assessor reckons was a career-best when subsequently finishing second at Newmarket.

The step up to a mile and a half clearly suited Chicago Doll at Headquarters, and fingers crossed she can ensure that August finishes on a high, and the fact that she has already shown herself equally effective on a synthetic surface, being placed on this same tapeta track, has to be a bonus.
