City Dreamer has prep run for Cheltenham at Lingfield on the Flat

Seemingly non-stop testing ground during January has prompted Alan to shuffle his options for the Cheltenham prep of City Dreamer, and, though he contemplated heading off to Musselburgh on Sunday, he has decided instead to run in the two-mile handicap on the Flat at Lingfield’s polytrack meeting tomorrow.

Alan said:”City Dreamer’s form over hurdles is solid – his second to We Have A Dream in the Summit Hurdle at Doncaster looks pretty smart after the winner followed up in the Grade 1 Finale Junior Hurdle at Chepstow – and, though this is a big step up in distance from his last run on the level (10f at Nottingham last May), he has shown stamina is not a problem since going jumping.”

Not surprisingly, in view of the underfoot conditions, Alan, who also runs Lady Persephone in the closing maiden at Lingfield – she has been off the track a long time but did win a bumper and a hurdle and the team are pleased to have her back – has opted for a quiet Saturday jumping.

Our only runner is at Sandown, where Desiremoi d’Authie goes for the novice hurdle. Alan added:”He has been disappointing and has not been settling in his races, but I still feel that when all the balls drop into the right slots he’ll be a decent horse and any improvement in the ground over the next 24 hours will definitely help.”
