Instead of heading to Sandown for the final day of the jumps season, Alan has a date at the Punchestown Festival, where Alan hopes to end the campaign on a high by winning the Grade 1 EBF Mares Champion Hurdle Final with Midnight Tour.

Alan said:”Midnight Tour was the closest we came to a winner at the Cheltenham Festival, so it would be fantastic if she could go one better here.

“She belied her odds of 33-1 by running a blinder and she even looked like winning going to the final flight, only to get run out of it on the run-in and be beaten half a length.

“Midnight Tour is a decent mare who was also unlucky in her previous race at Warwick, where she was almost carried out at the second last yet finished best of all.

“She has to turn Cheltenham form around with Benie des Dieux and, of course Apple’s Jade, who finished third, is in there again, so it will be tough, but we have booked Davy Russell and he’s the man of the moment, so fingers crossed,”
