Fingers crossed that Doncaster survives the forecast frost tomorrow morning as Alan plans to send three horses up to Town Moor, The Unit in the EBD Qualifier, Ardamir in the Juvenile Hurdle and William Hunter in the bumper.
Alan said:”The better the ground the better The Unit’s chance, and that is why we entered him for Doncaster, which has had the best going all winter. He was still a bit tense when he finished second at Huntingdon last time. He is not yet relaxing, but I think that will come with experience, and, having got over his pre-Christmas problem when we had to treat him for ulcers, he is pleasing us again.
“Ardamir is a French recruit who has plenty of size and scope, but he has not performed in two runs at Newbury as well as he has done out at exercise in the mornings, so, hopefully, after a good break he might show us improvement on this better ground. He has had a wind operation since he last ran.
“William Hunter should also appreciate this better ground. He is a horse that I like and he disappointed me at Huntingdon before Christmas. Whether I had done a bit too much with him before that race I’m not sure, but he seems in good form now.”
