Alan has been rattling a few cages at the big Flat meetings these past couple of years, and tomorrow he hopes to conquer Newmarket’s July meeting, with Dunkerron, winner of two of his three races so far, dipping his toes into deeper waters in the Group 2 July Stakes, in which he will be rubbing shoulders with Aidan O’Brien and John Gosden.

Dunkerron confirmed Goodwood debut promise when winning at Windsor, and Alan conceded that he was “worried about the penalty” when they stepped up a grade at York last time.

However, Dunkerron won with plenty in hand, and, though he now jumps up a further couple of classes for his first tilt at Pattern company, Alan hopes we will learn more about more this smart youngster at Newmarket.

We are also in action at Newbury tomorrow evening with Outofthequestion, who was successful at the last meeting, going up in trip off a 3lb higher mark, while Henry Ponsonby’s Royal Household, formerly with Richard Hannon, has his first run for us when also stepping up in distance at Epsom’s evening session.
