Dusky Legend returns at Newbury tomorrow
Wednesday November 2
Newbury’s programme tomorrow has suffered from the lack of rain with relatively small fields, but the £20,000 Mares Hurdle here has always been Alan’s first target for our Cheltenham Festival runner-up Dusky Legend, and, hopefully, she can carry on where she left off at Warwick in May.
Alan said:”Despite that Warwick win, which was somewhat bloodless, Dusky Legend remains a novice for this season, and her ultimate aim is to go back to Cheltenham in March for the big mares race again.
“She belied her odds of 50-1 at Cheltenham, finishing second to Willie Mullins’s smart mare Limini, and we are looking forward to this season, though we will try and avoid soft ground in mid-winter.
“Our other runner at Newbury is Hidden Cargo in the bumper. He was working very well in the spring until he developed a bad scope, which meant we had to turn him away, but it might well have been a blessing as he did well through the summer and is back looking a decent prospect on the gallops in the mornings. A shower of rain would not go amiss, but that seems unlikely.”
