Four runners at Leicester on Tuesday
We are all looking forward to Saturday’s Cesarewitch at Newmarket, but little fish are sweet and tomorrow we have four runners heading off to Leicester, so fingers crossed one or more of them might bring home some prize money in what is proving Alan’s best season on the Flat.
We are two-handed in the opener, with Manor Park (Martin Harley) being accompanied by Nebuchadnezzar (David Egan).
Manor Park won at Windsor in May and has been running ok since, seemingly finding the ground a bit too quick at Newbury last time, while Nebuchadnezzar ran his best race so far at Newbury, finishing third, and he goes off the same mark here.
Royal Household drops to selling company for the first time, having had a couple of runs over hurdles recently, and if he could reproduce the form he showed when he belied odds of 40-1 to finish a three lengths fourth in a much better race at Newbury in July, he’d be bang there at the finish.
Finally, Rock Steady, who came from Roger Charlton, has his first run for us in the 3.50. He has been off 11 months so might need this race to blow away the cobwebs, but he had some decent form two years ago, including beating our own Cosmeapolitan at Wolverhampton and also finishing a good second on this course, so it will be interesting to see if a change of scenery rekindles the flame.
