Here’s hoping Sandown escapes the frost
Snow at Sandown on Thursday soon disappeared, so, while down at Barbury we have joined our Lambourn neighbours in shovelling away what seemed an avalanche of the white snow which has fallen in our area, it seems only Jack Frost can thwart what looks a good card on the Esher slopes on Saturday.
We have just the two runners at Sandown, and Alan said:”Praeceps was a decent horse with Sir Mark Prescott and made an encouraging jumping debut for us when finishing second at Newbury.
“It took him a while to get over that race, but, having schooled in pleasing fashion on Monday, he is expected to build on that promising start, especially with the stiff track likely to suit him.
“We also have Full Glass going for the £100,000 handicap hurdle, and Alan said:”We are switching him back from fences as his jumping went to pieces on his last chase outing at Ascot. It’s very much back to the drawing board, but the soft ground would be a help.”
Miss Crick has won four races over jumps and she has her third run on the Flat at Lingfield, having shown promise when runner-up on the fibresand at Southwell last month. She’ll be qualified for handicaps after this, but Alan hopes she’ll enjoy her first run on the polytrack.
