Jumpers take centre-stage today
Thursday October 12
We have a big week-end coming on the Flat what with Newmarket and York in our sights, but it’s the jumpers who take centre-stage today, with runners at both Worcester and Exeter.
Dusky Legend, who has been placed over hurdles at the last two Cheltenham Festivals, makes her debut over fences in the opening mares novices’ chase at Worcester, where Mahlermade, who showed plenty of promise on his one bumper run at Stratford last spring, is expected to know more when he tries again in that sphere, as, hopefully, will Deyrann de Carjac, who goes for the first division of the bumper and should find the company less-exalted than he did on his debut at Newbury in March.
Chosen Path made an impressive winning first appearance for us at Fontwell last week, having come from the point-to-point field, and down at Haldon, Good Man Pat, who won between the flags in Ireland in May, makes his debut for Barbury in the second leg of the novice hurdle.
And also at Exeter, Hidden Cargo has his first run in a handicap, having shown promise in novice hurdles last season, particularly when running the smart Movewiththetimes to a length at Wincanton.
