We are just heading down the M4 to Chepstow
The racing has been distinctly average this week, but Alan, delighted how well Rainbow Dreamer ran in last Saturday’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, where he was only squeezed out of the frame close home, has several chances with his five runners today.
Dromquinna, who made eye-catching late progress to finish third on her debut at Lingfield, will relish the extra furlong in the maiden at Chepstow, where her elder half-sister Sula Island reappears after a 13-month absence in the Elite Racing Club Handicap.
Also heading down the M4 is Fibonacci, who probably ran too free on his return to Flat racing at Sandown recently. Hopefully, the freshness will be out of him now.
We also have a couple of runners tonight at Wolverhampton’s tapeta meeting, Gavi di Gavi and Tinchoo, while on Saturday we also have just the two runners, Aweedram up at Haydock and Lunar Bounty at Yarmouth.
Tinchoo and Lunar Bounty are both making their debuts, but Gavi di Gavi made a pleasing return after a lengthy absence at Kempton recently and has to be respected.
It wasn’t the step up to 10 furlongs which beat Aweedram at Newbury last time – he was never going at any stage – but back to a mile, a distance over which he has proved effective and with an ease in the ground, he will hopefully recapture his true form.
