We kick-start October with runners at three meetings
We are now in October when interest in the jumpers increases, and we have a couple of runners heading off to Bangor on Wednesday, plus a brace on the Flat, one at Salisbury and the other at Nottingham.
Skin Deep will hopefully have a happier experience at Bangor than she did when she went there for her jumping debut, which proved to be short-lived when the saddle slipped after an untidy jump early on.
However, Skin Deep, whom Barry Geraghty is flying over to ride for JP McManus, made amends at Worcester, showing her class to win despite the race being run at a sedate pace, so, hopefully, the mare will build on that victory.
Skin Deep will be accompanied in the box by Fields of Fortune, who won a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen in March and then enjoyed a summer break before returning for a pipe-opener on the level at Salisbury. It will be interesting to see Fields of Fortune in his first handicap over jumps.
Gravina, who is off to Nottingham, has enjoyed a good summer, making all at Newmarket in July and also being placed four times, and a close third at Leicester at the end of August suggests that she remains in good heart.
Finally, Aweedram, a newcomer by Mukhadran, makes his two-year-old debut in the McNeill family colours in a division of the novice at Salisbury.
