We launch a three-pronged attack on last day of Chester
We have runners at Huntingdon, Worcester and Chelmsford today and, hopefully, we’ll have something to celebrate come close of play, but there is also excitement in the yard at our three-pronged attack on the final day of Chester’s big May meeting tomorrow.
With Who Dares Wins having a second bite at the Chester Cup and Coeur de Lion being aimed at the consolation race, plus Cosmeapolitan in the extended 10-furlong handicap, there is plenty of cause for optimism as we head up the M6.
Alan said:”Who Dares Wins has been a star for Henry (Ponsonby) and his team under both codes, and this race has been his target for some time now.
“He was only beaten a length and a half into fourth last year, despite being checked in his run inside the final furlong, but, though we have Ryan Moore on our side for the first time, Who Dares Wins is 8lb higher than 12 months ago and is drawn 15 as against 7 last year, so we’ll also need Lady Luck with us.
“Coeur de Lion would have got up in two more strides at Newbury last time, but at least we don’t have the 3lb penalty and the first time cheekpieces might bring about a bit more improvement, so, though he, too, has been unlucky in the draw, fingers crossed he is again competitive for the Barbury Lions
“Cosmeapolitan was disappointing on the tapeta at Newcastle on Good Friday, but he is a decent horse around this trip and put a line through that run and he’d be in the mix.”
