Tritonic, who had showed plenty of promise when a close fourth at 50-1 on his debut at Haydock, showed the benefit of that experience when winning at Ffos Las last week, and, together with recent Wolverhampton winner Trueshan – his year older stablemate – he looks a useful prospect.

Trueshan, who was having his first run since making his debut 10 months earlier, clearly relished going up in trip, and he carries his penalty at Ffos Las on Thursday, with Hollie Doyle again in the saddle.

Also in action on the Welsh course is Alargedram, who makes his debut in the maiden. This Lope de Vega colt, whose dam was Listed placed in France, cost 75,000gns at the Newmarket Breeze-Up Sale in May and is an interesting recruit.

Hummdinger went close several times on the Flat during the summer, finishing second at Nottingham and Salisbury, and he makes his jumping debut at Worcester today. Here’s hoping he proves to be a useful juvenile hurdler.
