Ned Stark on a mission down at Chepstow
Monday March 28
Alan derived plenty of encouragement from the performances of Elgin and Kings Bayonet at Haydock on Saturday, and he hopes that we might continue on the upward curve when Ned Stark, our only runner, heads down the M4 to Chepstow on Easter Monday – remember when there were 14 or 15 meetings on what was the busiest day of the year?
Conceding that Ned Stark, who is now 7lb lower than when finding the company a bit too hot to handle in the Hennessy at Newbury in November, is on a retrieval mission, Alan said:”We were going to run Ned at Stratford on Saturday but they were waterlogged, so we re-routed here. He has been struggling this season, but he still works well enough at home and schooled fine last week,
“Maybe, Ned is a better horse giving weight to lesser horses rather than running in more competitive handicaps, and this race should tell us where we are with him as he is only a pound off the top.”
