Time is tight to get The Glancing Queen to Cheltenham
We have still yet to see one of our stars of 2019-20 this season, The Glancing Queen, who was so impressive when winning the mares bumper at Aintree’s Grand National meeting last spring.
Unfortunately, sore shins held back The Glancing Queen’s return, with a splint on her right fore being the latest problem, so, while happily she is now sound again and back cantering, she is obviously some way behind the schedule we originally planned for her.
Updating her many fans, Alan said:”The Glancing Queen will probably get an entry in the mares hurdle and the mares novice hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, but I freely admit that I am up against it timewise.
“The clock is ticking away fast with day one being just six weeks away, so a prep-run looks highly unlikely, and I am certainly not going to sacrifice her novice status over hurdles for one run.
“However, we still have the option of the Champion Bumper, which she finished fifth in last year, and it may be that she ends up running in that race again.
“The Glancing Queen is potentially high-class and will be given all the time she needs. She will tell me when she is ready, but she is sound and looks marvellous, which is the most important thing.”
