Twin attack at Goodwood on Sunday

Beringer has enjoyed a terrific summer and seems to relish the fast ground, so Alan, who runs him off topweight in the £50,000 mile and a quarter handicap at Goodwood tomorrow, is hoping that the forecast rain misses the Sussex Downs.

Two wins and three places since his wind operation earlier in the year, Beringer lost nothing in defeat in similarly competitive handicaps at York and Newmarket the last couple of runs, and off the same mark and granted decent ground he ought to be bang there again at the finish.

Giving Glances will accompany Beringer down to the South Coast in the horsebox, her target being the mile and a half fillies handicap, and, though 6lb higher than when winning at Leicester last time, she, too, is expected to run well if the ground does not deteriorate.
