Wayne is not the only Barbury jockey on the injured list
Like Wayne Hutchinson, Alan’s 17-year-old daughter Georgia is also on the injured list, having taken a fall on pulling up from Kismat at the end of her race at Windsor on Monday.
Kismat, who looks sure to win before too long, ran a cracker to finish close up in fourth in a race in which things became a bit tight in the last half-furlong, causing the filly to unship Georgie after passing the post.
However, Georgie was on the gallops yesterday watching work on crutches, and the mishap could not have come at a worse time for the enthusiastic apprentice who has been showing plenty of promise and had been booked by Henry Ponsonby for the ride on Fields of Fortune at Newbury this week-end.
Georgie said:”It seems that I have sustained a hairline fracture of the left ankle, but I have to go back to the specialist at the end of the week to find out the exact damage and how long I will be out of action.
“It is disappointing and Kismat had run a super race, but I suppose that is part-and-parcel of race-riding and it was just one of those things.”
