Forgiving Glance takes her chance in the Finale Junior Hurdle at Chepstow tomorrow, and, though the ground will be bottomless, Alan hopes she will cope with the testing conditions.

He said: “She just might get away with the ground. She was second in a Listed mares hurdle at Aintree and the winner was subsequently only just beaten in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas, so she deserves a shot at a big one here and it would be great if we could pick up some more black type.”

Alan will be at Kempton, and, assessing our runners there, he added: “Gild Master makes his jumping debut in the Juvenile Hurdle. He was frustrating on the Flat as he was always too free, but he has the ability and eight flights of hurdles just might enable him to settle better.

“We are two-handed in the three-mile novice hurdle. Brod Ba Heireann won 10 lengths at Towcester before Christmas, and, though that was two and a half (miles) he is all about stamina and should appreciate going up in trip.

“We also run Dun Bay Creek, who is relatively new to us but is progressing with experience. He was fourth at Plumpton over two and a half and should also be suited by this longer trip.”
