The rain might yet scupper any hopes Chepstow have of staging the Welsh National on Saturday, but, in any event, a few coughs given out by our big hope Midnight Prayer at the start of the week have sadly ruled him out of the marathon.

However, we still hope to maybe pick up a decent pot at Lingfield tomorrow, with First Mohican going for the £19,000 mile and a half Coral Handicap on the polytrack.

Alan said:”First Mohican was not beaten that far when dropping back to a mile and a quarter at Chelmsford last Sunday, and going back up in trip should suit him.

“He has only been to Lingfield once before, belying odds of 25-1 when chasing home Godolphin’s Pinzolo there last March, so there are no worries about the surface.”
