Despite the appalling weather conditions on Wednesday Taunton managed to go ahead with racing and it was certainly a very testing day for both humans and horses. Board Of Trade was the yards only representative in the 2m3f Novice Hurdle, having already posted some very good efforts over hurdles. On what was extremely heavy going Board Of Trade ran a cracking race to finish a 13 length 4th, these are not his preferred conditions and he will most definitely be seen to better effect on a sounder surface.
Katie Too was looking to follow up from her impressive hurdles debut, and despite having to give weight away to the whole field she willingly obliged at Warwick yesterday. On ground that was classed as heavy she travelled and hurdled with ease pulling away from the 2nd place horse by 24 lengths. With 2 impressive wins in the bag we will now look to step Katie Too up in grade and look for an opportunity to gain some black type, a smashing filly with a good pedigree, she should provide the Harris’s with more enjoyment on the racecourse before life as a broodmare.
Informationisking was making his debut in the bumper, a head-turning son of Flemensfirth who has pleased us at home. As is the normal with progeny of this sire, he is a big raw youngster, with plenty of physical improvement left to come and we were delighted with his effort yesterday in what was unpleasant conditions for any horse, let alone a debutante. He is certainly a horse to follow for the future.
Hopefully we can continue the good form of 2015 well into the new year and now begin to look ahead to the spring where there a some big targets to be aimed at, wishing you all a happy new year from everyone at Barbury Castle.
