No Gold Cup for Trueshan, but he could still go to Ascot
As expected, with temperatures getting even higher, Alan withdrew Trueshan from today’s Ascot Gold Cup this morning as, despite overnight watering, the ground is sure to be rattling fast.
However, Trueshan has been declared at the 48-hour stage for the Queen Alexandra Stakes at the Royal meeting on Saturday, and Alan is praying that the forecast thunderstorms arrive early so that he can run.
Obviously, at two miles and six furlongs, Trueshan would be entering unknown territory, but Alan said:”It entirely depends on whether we get the rain. I’d love to run him, and he really does need another outing before he defends his Goodwood Cup crown.”
We can only hope and pray that the heaven open – and sooner rather later!
