Thursday November 9

We are on a roll with Elgin, superb in victory at Ascot last Saturday, topping up the on-going Smad Place celebrations in the yard, but Tuesday’s rain scuppered hopes of taking Midnight Cowboy to our local meeting at Newbury today, though we will be represented on the Berkshire course by both Beneagles and Rosa Damascena, while Mia’s Storm heads up to Market Rasen.

Alan said:”Beneagles runs in the Pertemps Qualifier, and I’d hope he’ll go well, too. He was going to go chasing, but he hasn’t been the most natural over fences on the schooling grounds. He was a progressive novice over hurdles last season so fingers crossed.

“That rain will have boosted the chance of Rosa Damascena in the mares novice hurdle. You can forget her one run so far over hurdles as she came back sick, but she’s been doing well on the Flat since she returned, though obviously she’ll improve after her summer break.

“Mia’s Storm is stepping up in class for the Listed mares chase, but she won her only start over fences at Chepstow, where she jumped well and quickened up in style, so we are hoping for the best.”
