Saturday November 4

Remember, if you missed Alan’s ‘Stable File’ feature in The Racing Post last month, then you could track down the updated version in the latest edition of The Weekender, in which Alan is again one of their columnists for the forthcoming winter months.

Elgin and Midnight Maestro (Ascot) and Giveaway Glance (Wetherby) chase Listed prizes over hurdles today, and Alan rarely allows a Huntingdon meeting to pass him by so we have three runners there tomorrow.

The Unit heads the Sunday squad, and Alan said:”I was pleased how well he eventually settled last year, winning three races and finishing third in a Grade 1 novice hurdle at Aintree, but I was also very happy with his first run over fences at Newton Abbot last month. His jumping improved as the race went on and stepping up to two and a half miles should suit him well.

Wayne Hutchinson, back from his one-day suspension, rides all three of our runners up there, the others being Amadeus Rox in the juvenile hurdle and Cogburn in the novice hurdle.

Alan added:”Amadeus Rox is looking better over hurdles than he did on the Flat. He jumped and travelled well in cheekpieces at Wetherby last time and just bumped into one, but his experience should stand him in good stead here, while Cogburn, who is partially sighted in one eye, has run much better since we fitted an eyeshield, finishing second in a bumper and a hurdle race. He, too, should be competitive.”
