Three for Market “Raspberry” today

If it’s not frost then it’s more rain, but happily Market Rasen survives the weather today, and we have three runners going up there, Travertine, Hindon Road and Salmanazar, with the first-named, owned by JP McManus, likely to start favourite for the opening novice hurdle.

Alan said:”Travertine had been off for quite a while before he ran such an encouraging debut at Huntingdon, so I would like to think that he will come on for that. He worked very well last Saturday.

“Two and a half miles might be a little sharp for Salmanazar around there, but we are tempted by the ground as it will put the emphasis more on stamina. He was staying on well on his seasonal debut at Leicester.

“Hindon Road also ran ok at Leicester considering that it was his first race since April and he got badly hampered a couple of times. He goes for the two miles and five furlongs chase, and, though the ground won’t be ideal, we need to get him out again.”
