Wayne Hutchinson (The Devils Drop) and Kevin Dowling (Bastien) will be off to Towcester tomorrow, and, hopefully, one or both might get lucky.

Alan said:”The Devils Drop, who runs in the novice hurdle, was second in an Irish point-to-point, and he improved with every bit of work he did when he first came to us, so it was no surprise that he ran such a promising first race for Barbury at Chepstow earlier this month. He travelled very well but just got a bit tired up the straight, and I think this stiffer track will suit him.

“The course should also play to the strengths of Bastien, who goes for the two mile and five handicap hurdle. He won twice last season and was then beaten at Market Rasen, but he scoped badly when we got him back so we gave him a long break.

“Bastien ran an encouraging race to finish third on his seasonal debut in a conditional handicap hurdle at Sandown, staying on really well from the last, so we hope he’ll be competitive here.”
