We could have our biggest ever Flat team this summer with Alan estimating a squad of “between 25-30” by the time the Breeze-Up Sales have finished, and Rainbow Dreamer, who was bought for £8,000 at one of those sales last season, has already looked well worth the money and makes his reappearance on the level in the 10-furlong handicap at Sandown tomorrow.
Alan said:”Rainbow Dreamer is by Aqlaam and from the same family as Roger Charlton’s smart middle-distance horse Blue Monday, and he was very impressive when winning his maiden by four lengths on soft ground at Nottingham last back-end. They have given him a rating of 85, and, while 10 of his 11 opponents at Sandown are also previous winners, we hope that he will be competitive.”
We also have two runners at Chepstow tomorrow evening, Big Chief Benny going for the opening novice hurdle and Too Far Gone, who was also entered in that race, waiting for the closing maiden hurdle.
Alan added:”Big Chief Benny did really well when we found some half decent ground at Newbury and Doncaster through the winter, but, though he acquitted himself creditably, he was never as comfortable in the soft at Ascot last time. Hopefully, the rain stays away, and he should run well. Too Far Gone has had a couple of runs in bumpers and is ready for his first attempt over jumps.”
