Finest View could be exciting on her chasing debut at Kempton today
November 11
Alan had an early start this morning as after second lot it was time to get ready to head off to Kempton, where we have three runners, beginning with HMS President in the 12.45pm opener.
Runner-up in last year’s Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot, HMS President has had just the one run over hurdles, finishing second at Plumpton in February.
Alan said:”They took the last two flights out on his debut because of the low sun, and that did not suit HMS President as he has always loved jumping. It was a long way home from the third last and he lost a bit of interest and got outstayed.”
Next up is Finest View, who makes her debut over fences in the mares handicap chase. She won over hurdles at Stratford last May and has finished second in all four of her subsequent races.
Alan said:”She was a consistent hurdler, but seeing her schooling at home she looks a natural over fences. We could have quite a lot of fun with her against her own sex.”
Our other Kempton runner is Ezmerellda in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle, in which Philip Armson takes the ride. Alan added: “She won a maiden hurdle at Stratford last season and had she not fallen at the last at Cheltenham on her final start she would have finished third and gained some invaluable black type. She made a satisfactory reappearance on very testing ground at Stratford and should build on that,”
