Tom Cannon

Professional Jockey

Tom has always been cut out for a career as a professional Jockey. He started riding ponies from the age of three, with both his mother and grandmother riding in point to points and his mother working in racing. Tom graduated from competitive pony racing, show jumping and eventing as a teenager, and began pointing successfully from the age of sixteen. He has been the Champion National Novice Point to Point rider, Champion South East Point to Point rider and runner up in the Amateur title in 2010/2011 season and a close third in the conditional title.

Tom worked his way up the ranks quickly riding out his claim in just under two seasons. His most successful season arrived when he impressively notched up 52 winners back in the 2014/15 National Hunt Season, notably managing to win 5 times on Lightenterainment for Chris Gordon. Tom was appointed as second jockey at Barbury Castle just before the 2016/17 season, where he made his mark quickly riding his first winner for us on Tyrell at Warwick in December 2016. He ended the season riding 8 winners from around 50 rides for us. He has proved a great addition to us and hopefully the success continues.
