Enforced jockey switch for Trueshan in France
Trueshan did his final piece of work at Barbury on Wednesday before heading back to France, where on Saturday he tries to win the Prix du Cadran for the third time at Longchamp. Now an eight-year-old, Trueshan would be the oldest winner of this prestigious race since Kasbah Bliss triumphed for Francois Doumen in 1979 when a year older.
Alan said: ”Trueshan seems in good form at home, and he looks like getting the easy ground that he loves.
“I’d be happier if Kyrios wasn’t running, but Trueshan has been performing well all summer and we’ll give it our best shot.”
Everyone knows that Trueshan is Hollie Doyle’s ride – she has won on him 11 times, including in this race 12 months ago – but she has been claimed to ride Nashwa in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket, so Alan has pulled James Doyle (no relation) off the bench to take the mount.
Alan added: ”It’s a shame as Hollie knows Trueshan so well, but we were aware that she might be claimed by Nashwa’s owners so we have had James on stand-by for some time.
“Remember, James was aboard when Trueshan won his first Cadran in 2021 as Hollie was suspended.”
