Huntingdon-bound Westerton should be sharper for his Stratford debut
November 2
We have a couple of interesting runners at Huntingdon tomorrow in Westerton and Hall Lane, so fingers crossed one or the other (maybe both) can keep up the fine run of the Barbury team.
He said:”Westerton is a 90-rated Flat horse, but we hope he’ll also make a decent hurdler. I was initially disappointed with his debut over timber at Stratford last month, but Tom Cannon said that he blew up on what was his first run since the end of June.
“I haven’t got another horse who can go with him at home, which does not make it easy to stretch him, but he has worked really well on the grass this week and he will improve plenty for that Stratford run.
“Westerton has loved jumping since we first schooled him and I hope he progresses well, but we will pr0bably keep him to the sharper tracks for the time being.”
Hall Lane has topweight in the staying handicap chase, but this will be his first appearance since he opened his score over fences at Market Rasen in July. He seemed to appreciate stepping up in trip that day, so, while he will improve on whatever he does tomorrow, we hope he’ll again be competitive.”
