I’m A Lumberjack looks interesting on his jumps debut at Bangor
November 13
We have three runners at Bangor today and one at Southwell, and there will be plenty of interest in I’m A Limberjack‘s hurdling debut on the North Wales track.
I’m A Lumberjack was one of our best bumper horses last winter, finishing third in Listed company at Newbury in February, when he came from a long way back to bag a place.
Alan says I’m A Lumberjack has schooled well and, which is not surprising as he comes from the same family as Spirit Leader, who won both the Tote Gold Trophy at Newbury and the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. I’m A Lumberjack is one of the market-leaders, and we are looking forward to seeing how he shapes.
At Southwell we have that useful middle-distance handicapper Westerton trying to redeem his somewhat tarnished reputation after he flopped badly on his hurdling debut at Huntingdon.
Westerton had schooled well at home, but he seemed to forget his lines once the tapes went up and was novicey at several flights. Alan admitted to being “disappointed”, adding “he didn’t look too keen under pressure”, so he is equipping Westerton with cheekpieces to make him focus on the job in hand. Should this plan fail, Alan is likely to switch back to the Flat for the time being at least.
