Kempton bound Tritonic seems to have got sharper with age
November 5
We have two runners on the polytrack at Kempton tomorrow, including the versatile Tritonic, who carries topweight in the two mile handicap. Rossa Ryan, fresh from his Breeders Cup triumph on Starlust, knows this horse inside out, so even with his welter burden he ought to be competitive.
Tritonic is lightly-raced on the all-weather, but he only narrowly missed a place on this surface in the Queen’s Prize last April, so you ignore him at your peril.
Alan said:”Tritonic had a difficult task under 12st in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow last month, but I don’t think he gets two and a half miles over hurdles as jumping seems to light him up and he travels almost too well.
“This run on the Flat should put him spot on for the valuable two mile handicap at Ascot before Christmas. He won the race three years ago, and, though he will be eight on New Year’s Day, he retains plenty of ability and, if anything, he seems to have got sharper.”
Tritonic will be accompanied in the box down the M3 by Troy Story, who tackles his first handicap and, if he reproduces his second run when fourth at Sandown in what looked a good maiden, Troy Story could be in the mix.
The ground on turf courses has dried up appreciably almost everywhere these past 10 days, but Nottingham still predict soft going for tomorrow, which will suit Teorie, who makes his first appearance on grass since July last year, when he won in similar conditions for Jim Bolger on the Flat at Leopardstown before finishing a creditable fourth at Galway.
Teorie was then transferred to Fergal O’Brien, who had him gelded and he was on target first time for the stable over hurdles at Catterick and won again at Southwell in February.
However, Teorie joined us in September, and, having made a pleasing start for Barbury when finishing third on the polytrack at Kempton, he returns to turf looking to have solid prospects with apprentice Oscar Palmer claiming the 7lb.
