Step up in trip will suit Menaggio at Kempton on Tuesday
March 30
With The Doyen Chief coping admirably with the switch back to a left-hand circuit when winning at Warwick, and both Paradias and Tritonic coming through their Good Friday prep-races at Kempton with satisfactory reports, all is well at Barbury as we move into April and immediately focus on the Grand National meeting at Aintree, which starts on Thursday.
However, before our thoughts centre on Liverpool we have a solid chance of kick-starting the new month in style, courtesy of Menaggio, who steps up to three miles at Kempton on Tuesday.
Alan said:”Having bled in two successive races, I was delighted to see how well Menaggio ran to finish second in a novice handicap chase at Kelso a month ago.
“You are always apprehensive in their comeback race after a horse has bled so badly, and, while Menaggio did hit a flat spot, he was probably just remembering that experience and got through it, finishing his race off well. It looked that day as if going back up in trip would suit him, so I hope he’ll run well.”
