Switch in surface won’t be a problem for Wisper at Southwell on Sunday
July 11
Wisper gained her seventh win on turf at Windsor last month, and, though she is 0-7 on the all-weather, Alan has booked Tom Marquand for the mare’s switch to tapeta for a mile and three furlong handicap at Southwell on Sunday.
However, there is every reason to be optimistic about the chances of the in-form Wisper, who even off a 5lb higher mark looks to have solid chances.
She might not yet have won on an artificial surface, but she has run two cracking races at Kempton and Chelmsford and is a half-sister to Honey Man, who won two of her four races on the all-weather for Simon Crisford. Furthermore, Wisper has looked fresh and well in recent spins up the all-weather gallop at Barbury.
Our other Sunday runner is Blue Tempus, who tries to go one better at Stratford, having run a corker on his hurdling debut at Newton Abbot last month, being only worn down on the short run-in.
