We are not yet half-way through March, yet Alan has already celebrated six winners this month, the most recent being Annie Hathaway, who never broke sweat to win the mares maiden hurdle at Doncaster today.

Our smart 3lb claiming conditional Philip Armson is in terrific form, and Annie Hathaway, who cruised through the race and stretched clear over the last two flights for a 12 lengths victory, was the jockey’s third win from his last seven rides.

Armson said:”Annie Hathaway is very good and learned a lot from Huntingdon, where she finished third . The form of that race is working out well, with the runner-up having won since, and I would have been disappointed if she had been beaten here. Annie Hathaway used to be a bit keen in her races, but she now settles so much better and travelled like a dream out there.”

Annie Hathaway, who carried the Edwardstone colours of Robert Abrey and Ian Thurtle, is named after the award-winning American actress, whose films have grossed over $6.8 billion worldwide.

Arguably, the human Annie Hathaway is most famous for playing the assistant to a fashion magazine editor in The Devil Wears Prada, but she was also superb when playing Fantine in the hugely successful musical Les Miserables.

However, while this was a Class 4 maiden, this late-developing mare was so impressive that who knows she might develop into a four-legged superstar herself.
