Hollie Doyle back on Tritonic in the Chester Cup

Hollie Doyle was aboard Tritonic when he last won on the Flat at Goodwood in October, so with a decent draw in stall eight and the cheekpieces back on, the pair ought not be ignored when they team up again in the prestigious Chester Cup tomorrow.

That was some performance by Tritonic on the Sussex Downs, giving 11lb and a beating to the smart if unpredictable Goshen, and, encouraged by our versatile performer’s return to form when finishing fourth in a competitive handicap hurdle at Aintree last month, Alan is hopeful of a big run from Tritonic.

Also in action on the Roodee is Greystoke, who has the favoured one draw in the mile and a half apprentice handicap, for which Alan. successful in the race 12 months ago with Haseefah, has snapped up the services of the talented Benoit de la Sayette.

Greystoke, formerly with Mick Channon, got off the mark for Barbury over hurdles at Newton Abbot this time last year, and, though he has not won any of his seven attempts since, he has been rattling the crossbar on the all-weather in the spring, being placed in his last four races, at Wolverhampton (twice), Lingfield and Southwell.

We also have a couple of runners going off to Market Rasen, Fidux, who has run some of his best races on this course and did nothing wrong when narrowly beaten at Fakenham a month ago, and Methusalar, who looked to appreciate a bit of ease in the ground when gaining an overdue win at Bangor. He runs well fresh, so returning after the best part of a year should not be a problem.

Finally, Mr Rumbalicious, who has popped in two wins on the all-weather through March and April, tries to complete the hat-trick when he returns to Wolverhampton tomorrow evening. Andrea Atzeni rides.
