Maniac makes Georgia hungry for more success in the saddle

Fresh from grabbing the headlines in the sales ring at Tattersalls earlier this month Alan’s daughter Georgia nearly did likewise back on the racetrack following her first ride in almost three years at Windsor on Monday.

After signing off her previous stint in the saddle with a victory aboard Gavi Di Gavi at Sandown Park in July 2023, Georgia, who now works up in Newmarket for Richard Spencer, came close to making the perfect return aboard I’d Go Maniac in the Find Us At fitzdares.com Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap.

Racing towards the rear of the field early on Georgia, who recently signed for the top lot at the Guineas Breeze Up Sale on behalf of a new Rebel Racing partnership between Phil Cunningham and Tim Gredley which will go into training with her current boss, steadily worked her way past rivals before finishing second behind Hengest.

And following the race Georgia admitted that the result has left her eager to take on more opportunities in the saddle once again.

Georgia said: “Having said that was me finished race riding and retiring on a win in 2023, over the winter I decided I wanted to give it another go.

“It would have been cooler to have a winner, but it was great to be back riding and I’m delighted to have had a nice first spin back on I’d Go Maniac for dad and the lovely group of owners that make up the Alan King Racing Club.

“He ran a brilliant race to finish second and all the owners had a fun evening out. Hopefully I will get to ride him again at Haydock Park on the 29th.

“I’m looking forward to getting back going and I would love to give the amateur series of races a good kick!”
