Maniac runs riot at Windsor

It proved to be a real family occasion at Windsor on Monday evening for Alan and his daughter Georgia after I’d Go Maniac got his head in front for this first time this season in the A1R Services Ltd Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap.

After finishing second under Georgia on his previous visit to the Berkshire track earlier in the year, the son of Bow Creek, who runs in the silks of the Alan King Racing Club, went one better in the extended one-mile-and-three-furlong prize.

Racing towards the rear of the field early on, the 11-4 favourite, who finished third under Georgia last time out in the Betfred Ladies’ Derby Handicap at Epsom Downs, made steady headway ahead of setting sail for home in between the final two furlongs.

Once hitting the front victory was never in doubt with Georgia steering the seven year old to glory by two and three quarter lengths, much to the delight of the triumphant rider and those members of the racing club in attendance.

Georgia said: “I was delighted to get my first winner back last night since deciding to go back riding again. I’m even more chuffed to do it for dad and the lovely Alan King Racing Club as they have been so supportive to me allowing me to ride I’d Go Maniac.

“We have had some great days out with him now, and it would be great to get another spin on him if there is another amateur race suitable for him this season.”

And following the win Georgia, whose last victory came in 2023, hopes it is a sign of things to come for the rest of the campaign.

She added: “The aim now is just to get as many rides in the amateur series as I can. Long term I would love to give the amateur title a good go, but for the meantime I’m just enjoying being back riding and having some fun.”
