Mayfair Gold interesting back on the polytrack at Kempton on Wednesday

Mayfair Gold can boast two wins and five places from her nine runs on the all-weather, so Richard Kelvin-Hughes’s home-bred filly is interesting back on the polytrack at Kempton’s evening meeting on Wednesday.

Not that Mayfair Gold did much wrong in her two runs on the turf, but she was only beaten a neck by a Godolphin filly who cost £1.45m gns over this track 11 months ago, and this surface seems to suit her well.

Besides Kempton, we have an interest in Nottingham and Catterick on Wednesday. Palio was second at both Ripon and Catterick before finding the company a bit too hot at Kempton last time, so ought to be in with an each-way shout at Nottingham on a 3lb lower mark than on the Sunbury course, while Whispering Royal, possibly unsuited by the soft ground at Ripon, would have a squeak at Catterick if the ground continues to dry up.
