Paradias and Tritonic fly the flag for us at Newcastle on All-Weather Finals day
April 17
Only one of our five runners so far this week failed to make the frame, and, while Alan was delighted with Harbour Lake, One Cool Dreamer, Big Boy Bobby and Granny Hawkins, he would also have been pleased with the return of Baskerville at Warwick, especially considering that it was his first run since he fell at Taunton in December.
Meanwhile, there is valuable prize money on offer at Newcastle’s All-Weather finals day, with both Paradias and Tritonic having been aimed for Gosforth Park for some time now.
Alan said:”Paradias has had a successful all-weather season, winning at Wolverhampton and Kempton, and his rating has gone up to 100, which is almost bordering on Listed class.” He deserves a shot at the Easter Middle Distance Classic at Newcastle.
Tritonic’s target is the All-Weather Marathon. Like Paradias, he is a rookie at Gosforth Park, and, though he has yet to win on an artificial surface, he was runner-up at Kempton when ridden by today’s partner, Rossa Ryan.
Rakki, our other Good Friday runner, goes to Chelmsford, and he, too, has yet to win on the all-weather, However, he returns after a four month break, having twice been placed over hurdles, and Danny Tudhope has been booked for the ride.
David Egan has the mount on our only Saturday representative, Loughville, who runs in the Queen’s Cup at Musselburgh. Loughville enjoyed a fruitful season last year, winning handicaps at Bath, Wetherby and Newbury, which saw the mare’s mark rise by 21lb. She was also placed four times, but, having been off since last November, she is bound to improve on whatever she does on her eagerly-awaited comeback.
