Resumption in racing at Kempton Park provides much needed outlet for Barbury Castle Stables

Scorching temperatures combined with rattling quick ground have meant runners taking to the track from Barbury Castle Stables have been kept to the minimum recently, however Alan intends to be marginally more busier over the next few days with racing at Kempton Park now back up and running.

Racing resumed at the track on Wednesday following a break of just over three weeks, and with two meetings there this week Alan will be represented on both cards.

Blue Vixen and Believitanducan will take to the all-weather track at the Sunbury venue today, before stablemates Cullenagh Rainbow, Galaxy Star and Star Time will race there on Wednesday, the same day that Grand Havana and John Harrison will be seen in action at Ffos Las.

King said: “It is great to have the racing back at Kempton Park again as it will allow us to get a few more out. They did a good job at Ffos Las last week, and hopefully they have put enough water on for this week as well where Grand Havana and John Harrison are set to run.

“I’m trying to get them out where we can, but I expect to be quiet again at the weekend after running the few we have pencilled in during the week.”

Also in action this week will be Deedaydiva, who is set to make her first start since May when contesting the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap at Lingfield tomorrow.

King said: “Deedaydiva will run at Lingfield tomorrow as we need to get a run into her. We haven’t got a great draw in stall ten, but at least if we can get a spin into her then she will be ready to roll when the rain does come. It is nice to see her back.”

While there was to be no winners for Alan following the resumption of racing again Kempton Park last week, Great Plains ran a race full of promise at the track to finish fourth on his debut in division two of the Unibet/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

King said: “Great Plains is a lovely horse, and I was happy with him at Kempton Park last week. I think it wasn’t a bad race looking at it. It was the quicker time of two divisions, which is always a good sign as well.”

There was one winner to be celebrated though last week for Alan, and his team, after his daughter Georgia steered I’d Go Maniac to glory in the A1R Services Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap.

And the partnership will now bid to add to that success in the 100% Racing TV Profits Back To Racing Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap at Haydock Park on September 3rd.

King added: “It was good to see Georgia win aboard I’d Go Maniac at Windsor last week. He will go for another amateur race at Haydock Park at the beginning of September and the partnership will be kept in tact.”
