Sales success at Newmarket
Results on the racetrack were not the only source of success for Alan during the three-day Betfred Guineas Festival at Newmarket with action in the ring during the Guineas Breeze Up Sale at Tattersalls also proving a hit.
Having been busy during the Craven Breeze Up Sale back at Tattersalls, Alan was again active in the sales ring where he purchased three more two-year-olds to help stock up his Flat team.
And there are opportunities to become involved with some of the new recruits with a number of them up for sale.
Alan said: “We bought another three at the Guineas Breeze Up Sale so that is us now up to a dozen two-year-olds for the season ahead.
“We got a New Bay filly, a Sioux Nation colt and an El Paco colt. One or two of them are for sale so if anyone is interested they can get in contact with me.
“We have stocked up well, and if they are as good as last year’s bunch I would be very happy.”
Star of the show on the track at Newmarket was Daiquiri Bay, who moved closer to a return trip to Royal Ascot with victory in the Boodles Handicap.
Following his latest win the gelded son of New Bay was moved up to a career high mark, but he was not the only one to receive attention from the handicapper with stablemates Heroics and Galaxy Star also receiving opening marks after their latest runs.
Alan said: “Daiquiri Bay has been put up four pounds and is now rated one hundred. He is another one of the breeze up horses to hit that mark.
“Heroics has been given a mark of seventy two, which I thought would be around the figure he would get, following his run at Southwell last week so we will now go down the handicap route with him.
“It was a terrific run by Galaxy Star down in that Listed race at Goodwood as it was a huge step up from her win at Kempton Park. She has been given a mark of eighty six. Whether she runs in a fillies handicap next time we will see.”
